On February 24 at the Morning Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians, Dr. Mark Kropp, a Del Sol Rotarian was the Speaker via ZOOM from Atlanta, GA. Mark, who has his medical degree from the Medical School in St. Croix, has worked in the pharmaceutical industry. However, his passion is the work he does as a member of the Medical Staff at the Rotarian Clinic in Jacunda, Brazil in the Amazon Rain Forest. Mark, whose wife and daughter are from Brazil left Albuquerque during the Covid 19 Pandemic and has spent the pandemic volunteering in the clinic. He told us that the clinic is on the grounds of an orphanage in Brazil founded by a woman from Kansas. Mark told us about all the difficulties which the people in the area of the clinic faced during the early phases of Covid 19 in Brazil. He showed us photos of the crowded conditions at the clinic. Now, however, with 76% of Brazilians having at least one dose of the Covid Vaccine, things are much better. Mark was speaking from the CDC office in Atlanta where he was bringing data from the Brazilian Covid experience to the CDC. It was a fascinating presentation of just another service that Rotary provides in so many parts of the world. We are so proud to have Mark as a member of RDS. On Tuesday, March 1, at 5:30pm at Nexus Brewery and on ZOOM the Satellite Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians will be a vocational presentation by Dick Wilkinson. Last October, Dick was invited to discuss cyber strategy in government operations with leadership of various Ukrainian agencies. Dick will discuss that meeting and the program that put it together. This will be a very interesting and especially timely presentation! On Thursday, March 3 at 7:00AM at Jimmy’s Cafe and ZOOM the Morning Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians will feature Satellite Chair and President-Elect Jeff Weinrach speaking about the recent Club Member survey and the Strategic Plan. As a reminder, Ed Robertson is still looking for a host for the March Freeloaders/St. Patrick Day Party. Please call Ed if you can be the host. Also please keep in mind Sponsorships for the Rotary Charity Ball. Please contact Wille Edwards if you can help with that. We also need Auction items and Nicosha Schedlbauer is in charge of that. On March 8, 2022 at 5:00 pm the RDS Foundation will have its regular Board Meeting at US Eagle Federal Credit Union. Red Badge members are reminded that they need to attend a Foundation Board Meeting as part of their Blue Badge requirements. Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self. |
